Term life insurance: protection for a defined period

Term life insurance provides coverage for a specified period. It is often considered for financial obligations that have an end date, such as a mortgage or the years a family depends on your income.

Term policies generally do not build cash value. Ask about the policy’s duration, renewal costs, and any conversion options before choosing coverage.

Permanent life insurance: a longer-term approach

Permanent life insurance is designed for long-term coverage and typically includes a cash value component. Whole life and universal life are examples, with different premium structures and policy features.

Keeping coverage in force requires meeting the policy’s payment and other requirements. Ask your advisor to explain costs, guarantees, non-guaranteed values, and how loans or withdrawals may affect the death benefit.

Start with the people who depend on you

  • What income would your family need to replace?
  • Which debts and household expenses would remain?
  • Are you planning for childcare, education, or final expenses?
  • What savings and insurance do you already have?
  • What premium can you comfortably maintain?

Bring these questions to your consultation. We can discuss your priorities and help you understand the next steps. Product availability and eligibility vary by state and insurer.

Your life insurance questions, answered

What is life insurance?

Life insurance is a contract that can pay a death benefit to your beneficiaries if you die while the policy is in force, subject to its terms. It can help loved ones manage expenses and financial commitments.

How much life insurance do I need?

Consider the income your family depends on, outstanding debts, childcare and education costs, and final expenses. Then review savings and existing coverage with an advisor. The right amount depends on your situation.

What affects the cost of life insurance?

Age, health, tobacco use, the coverage amount, policy type, and insurer underwriting can affect premiums. An initial consultation is not a final rate or approval.

Can I get life insurance outside open enrollment?

Life insurance is generally not tied to the annual health insurance open enrollment period. Availability and approval depend on the insurer and its underwriting requirements.

Is this an instant life insurance quote?

No. Our form is a request for a personal consultation. An advisor will discuss your needs and available options. Submitting the form does not create or activate coverage.
